During the summer of 2025, Yuan Ze University’s international volunteer team, “HuaXiang Dream,” once again set off to Taiping, Perak, Malaysia, for a two-week service program.
This project combines AI technology education and cultural experience courses. It not only continues the cooperation with Hua Lian Middle School last year, but also expands to the local childcare institution "Anning Children's Home" for the first time, hoping to build a bridge of friendship between technology and humanistic care.
This volunteer group is led by Chen Xinlin, the head of the counseling and career guidance group of Yuan Ze University, and the Yuan Ze University International Volunteer Group. Taoqing volunteers and ASUS volunteers participate in 20 diversified courses. The service objects cover more than 800 students of Hua Lian Middle School and 11 children of Anning Children's Home. The course content spans multiple topics such as AI artificial intelligence practice, human brain maze, big data analysis, information security and hacking, plastic restriction and sustainability, YouTube editing and practice, and Taiwanese pearl milk tea handmade. The design takes into account both innovative knowledge transfer and hands-on experience.
This year's course continues the model that was well received last year. The registration was enthusiastic, and many courses were fully booked in advance. The volunteer lecturers also opened additional sessions in response to demand, showing the local students' high desire for emerging technology knowledge. The volunteer group specially planned the "Interpersonal Relationships and Communication Skills" course to lead the junior high school students of Hualian Middle School to understand themselves, practice expression, and listening. There was constant laughter in the classroom, creating a learning atmosphere that was completely different from the past.
Hualian Middle School specially held a grand opening ceremony on campus to welcome the volunteer group. In his speech, Principal Wang Mingyu said that it was our great honor to welcome Yuan Ze University again. Last year's cooperation left beautiful memories, and this year's reunion is not only a continuation, but also a deepening.
The students responded enthusiastically to the course. Yang, a first-year junior high school student at Hualian Middle School, said that after taking the "AI Life Assistant" class, he found that AI was like a selfless helper, making life easier; Chen, a senior high school student, met white hat and black hat hackers in the information security course, and aspired to become an information security engineer in the future to prevent others from being deceived.
This year, the volunteer group went to the "Anning Children's Home" for the first time, bringing 11 children Taiwanese cultural experiences such as dumplings, handmade bubble tea, aboriginal beads, and old-fashioned children's toys DIY, allowing the children to spend a warm and surprising time. Director Cai of the Anning Children's Home said that the children's eyes were shining and their faces were full of smiles. The company of the volunteers was full of love and strength. At the same time, sponsored by ASUS Computer, three recycled laptops were donated to help high school students have exclusive learning equipment, symbolizing the dual transmission of technology and love.
Qiu Yijing, a student from the English Special Class of Yuan Ze University's School of Management, who served as the leader of the volunteer group, said that this was the first time she led the team to serve in Malaysia, and the enthusiasm of the children was beyond imagination. Although she was tired, she still felt happy to open an additional session. When the students told me "You are a guiding light", at that moment I deeply felt the value of my efforts and also established a deep friendship across borders.
Yuan Ze University said that it will continue to promote international volunteer services in the future, make good use of professional knowledge and cultural exchanges to deepen local connections, and let the sharing of educational resources have a greater influence on the international stage.
