The Department of Electrical Engineering at Yuan Ze University held a reunion for its third cohort of alumni on July 19, marking the 30th anniversary of their graduation.
A total of 38 alumni from the Class of 1995 returned to their alma mater, many accompanied by their families, for a heartwarming gathering that brought them together with former professors, including Cheng-Kuang Huang, Chih-Min Lin, Yao-Keng Chao, and Cheng-Jen Yang. The event was filled with touching moments and nostalgic memories.
Despite the passage of time, the bond between teachers and students remained strong. One professor remarked emotionally, “I had just received my Ph.D. when I started teaching at Yuan Ze. I still remember how young everyone looked—how did our hair all turn gray so quickly?” As alumni warmly greeted their former instructors with heartfelt “Hello, professor!” the scene seemed to rewind time, reigniting the youthful spirit of three decades ago.
During the banquet, the alumni shared stories of their life journeys and recalled amusing moments from their university days. Laughter mixed with tears, revealing a deep appreciation for the friendships and youthful memories they had cherished.
After the meal, the group strolled around the campus, revisiting the places where they had once studied and lived. The original teaching building of the Department of Electrical Engineering, now used by the Departments of Mechanical Engineering and Art and Design, drew surprised reactions from many: “It has changed so much!” As they reached the dormitory area, their steps slowed. This group had been among the first to live in the newly completed dormitories at the time, and the memories came rushing back—from sprinting to class to quiet late-night conversations under the stars.
This memorable gathering was initiated by the alumni themselves, who reached out to Yuan Ze University's Alumni Association to organize the event. The university offered full support, providing venues and logistics to ensure a smooth and heartfelt reunion. The Alumni Association noted that thirty years is no short period, and it was extraordinary to witness the enduring bonds among classmates.
Yuan Ze University emphasized that its alumni are among its most valuable assets. The university expressed hope that such events would continue to strengthen the connection between alumni and their alma mater, carrying on the spirit of Yuan Ze. The return of the third cohort of Electrical Engineering alumni not only rekindled precious memories but also added a touching new chapter to their life journeys.
