AI and Semiconductor Talent Development Drew Attention as Yuan Ze University Rose 13 Places in University Placement Rankings over Four Years

University rankings could be assessed from a variety of perspectives. In addition to international rankings, academic research performance, and corporate evaluations, changes in applicants’ university preferences and admission scores could also serve as reference indicators for assessing a university’s attractiveness to prospective students. Shun-Chi Chen, Director of Taoyuan Rulin Preparatory School, recently analyzed university placement admission data from Academic Years 2023 to 2026.

He calculated the average percentile rankings based on admission scores for university departments and programs in Natural Sciences Group II, which excludes biology, and compiled the changes in university rankings over the four years. During this period, Yuan Ze University rose from 27th place in Academic Year 2023 to 14th place in Academic Year 2026, moving up 13 places in four years and drawing attention for its significant improvement.

According to Taoyuan Rulin’s “Average Percentile Rankings of Universities in Natural Sciences Group II for Placement Admissions, Academic Years 2026–2023,” the top 15 universities in Academic Year 2026 were, in order, National Taiwan University, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, National Tsing Hua University, China Medical University, National Cheng Kung University, National Central University, National Sun Yat-sen University, National Chengchi University, National Taipei University, National Taiwan Normal University, National Chung Hsing University, National Chung Cheng University, National Changhua University of Education, Yuan Ze University, and Chung Yuan Christian University.

Looking at the four-year trend, the rankings of leading universities remained relatively stable, with National Taiwan University and National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University continuing to rank near the top. Yuan Ze University, however, showed a notable upward trend, rising from 27th place in Academic Year 2023 to 21st in Academic Year 2024, 18th in Academic Year 2025, and 14th in Academic Year 2026, advancing for three consecutive years.

In terms of the average admission percentile, Yuan Ze University improved from 58.64% in Academic Year 2023 to 43.06% in Academic Year 2024, 37.81% in Academic Year 2025, and 35.89% in Academic Year 2026. Under Chen’s methodology, a lower percentage indicated a higher relative position among applicants. Using a hypothetical pool of 10,000 applicants for illustration, Yuan Ze University’s relative position improved from approximately 5,864th in Academic Year 2023 to approximately 3,589th in Academic Year 2026, indicating an upward trend in its placement admission performance in Natural Sciences Group II. The percentage was a comparative indicator calculated from admission thresholds rather than an individual admitted student’s actual unweighted score.

Shun-Chi Chen noted that university rankings could be examined from different perspectives and that placement admission scores provided a relatively concrete source of data. Examining changes in percentile rankings and university positions over four consecutive years not only revealed shifts among universities but also provided students and parents with a reference for understanding trends in university placement admissions.

Yuan Ze University said its ranking in Natural Sciences Group II climbed from 27th place in Academic Year 2023 to 14th place in Academic Year 2026, an improvement of 13 places over four years. The University said the results reflected Yuan Ze University’s strengths in engineering and information-related fields, which aligned with talent demand in the AI and semiconductor industries. The results also highlighted the University’s industry-academia collaboration, internationalization efforts, and graduate employment advantages, which had increasingly gained recognition among prospective students and parents. The reference report also cited Yuan Ze University’s strengths in AI, electrical engineering, information technology, and engineering fields when discussing its recent placement admission trends.
