On Saturday, March 8, Yuan Ze University’s Department of Foreign Languages and Applied Linguistics hosted the 2025 Northern Taiwan High School Japanese Singing Contest, attracting students from over ten high schools, including Jinou Girls' High School, Shoushan Senior High School, and Hsinchu Girls' High School.
The contest was organized by Yuan Ze University’s Department of Foreign Languages and Applied Linguistics and aimed to promote high school students' interest in learning Japanese while providing them with a platform to showcase their singing talents. Contestants performed a variety of Japanese songs, singing along with instrumental tracks. Their fluent Japanese and captivating voices amazed the judges, who found it hard to believe they were just high school students from Taiwan.
The top three winners came from Kuang-Fu High School, Taibei High School, and Jihping High School, performing "君に会えた日" and "残酷な天使のテーゼ", fully demonstrating their passion for Japanese music and singing.
Professor Ko Yi-Chung, Chair of the Department of Foreign Languages and Applied Linguistics at Yuan Ze University, stated that the successful hosting of this competition not only attracted high school students interested in learning Japanese but also encouraged them to continue improving their language skills. He expressed hope that such events would not only enrich students' campus life but also inspire their academic interests and future career paths.
