Rising to National Recognition: Yuan Ze University’s Department of Chinese Language and Literature Student Association Won Second Place in a Nationwide Competition

The Student Association of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at Yuan Ze University participated for the first time in the National Evaluation and Showcase of Student Associations at Colleges and Universities and was awarded an Excellent Award (Second Place) in the Autonomous and Comprehensive category. The association stood out among nationwide competitors, demonstrating outstanding organizational management and diverse achievements with an impressive overall performance.

Preparation for the competition began at the end of Academic Year 114. The current executive team worked closely with alumni leaders from previous years and, under the guidance of the Extracurricular Activities Section, gradually refined the submitted materials and exhibition content. Through systematic planning, the association transformed years of accumulated experience into concrete competitive results, fully showcasing the initiative, teamwork, and cohesion of students from the Department of Chinese Language and Literature.

In its daily operations, the association consistently promoted diverse and practice-oriented activities, aiming to transform traditional culture into participatory life experiences. In recent years, activities such as calligraphy workshops and Hanfu cultural experiences encouraged students to step beyond the classroom and engage with Chinese culture through hands-on practice. These initiatives enabled cultural learning to move beyond textual knowledge and become part of everyday life. In addition, the association actively facilitated interdepartmental exchanges by organizing events such as crossroad exchange activities and Christmas balls, fostering interaction among students from different disciplines while cultivating communication, coordination, and teamwork skills.

Regarding large-scale event planning, the association served as the chief organizer of the campus Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, integrating on-campus resources and collaborating with the Extracurricular Activities Section and various student organizations to complete comprehensive planning and execution. This experience demonstrated a high level of coordination and organizational capability. The association also incorporated public service and social engagement by partnering with foundations to invite children onto campus for hands-on cultural workshops, extending cultural outreach into the community and broadening the impact of humanistic education.

Furthermore, the Student Association of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature participated in the organization and operation of the annual Yuan Ze Literary Award and established connections with senior high schools, promoting the downward extension of literary education. Through long-term cultivation and diverse practical efforts, these initiatives were ultimately transformed into tangible achievements in the national evaluation, reflecting the association’s comprehensive strengths in cultural inheritance, interdisciplinary integration, and practical execution.

The Department of Chinese Language and Literature at Yuan Ze University stated that the department had long been committed to integrating theory with practice in order to cultivate talents equipped with cultural literacy, practical skills, and social responsibility. The student association’s outstanding performance on the national stage not only highlighted students’ creativity and initiative but also demonstrated the department’s dynamic, diverse, and forward-looking learning environment, providing broad development opportunities for students aspiring to pursue careers in the humanities.
