“Warm Colors and Radiant Moments”: Solo Exhibition of Sung-Ching Tsao Opened at Yuan Ze University

The Arts Center of Yuan Ze University presented “Warm Colors and Radiant Moments – A Solo Exhibition by Sung-Ching Tsao” at the Third Building Arts Center from now until December 18.

The exhibition showcased the artistic journey of Sung-Ching Tsao through 17 oil paintings, integrating multiple cross-disciplinary technological works to offer audiences a contemporary visual experience merging aesthetics, memory, and technology.

Sung-Ching Tsao was born in Matsu and grew up in its unique natural and cultural environment, where the sound of waves, stone houses, and shifting lights deeply shaped his creative memory. These life experiences were transformed into spiritual imagery within his works, allowing light on the canvas to signify not only natural landscapes but also the continuation of time, emotion, and life. This established a warm and narrative tone for the exhibition.

In addition to his oil paintings, the exhibition also extended into the realm of technological art. Three cross-disciplinary works created in collaboration with National Central University were featured, including the virtual-reality piece “My Virtual Art Museum”, the interactive installation “Rock-Paper-Scissors”, and the project “Free Mobile Wallpaper Giveaway.” Through VR, viewers were able to step into the luminous spaces constructed by the artist, become part of the work through interactive games, and bring elements of the artwork into daily life. These explorations broke away from traditional exhibition formats and demonstrated new possibilities at the intersection of art and technology.

Sung-Ching Tsao remarked that the core of his artistic practice lay in the interplay of light and time. Light, in his view, was not only a visual element but also a carrier of cultural memory and emotional experience. He hoped that viewers would rediscover the subtle nuances of nature and the sense of inner peace through his works.

The Arts Center of Yuan Ze University stated that the solo exhibition continued its mission of promoting cross-disciplinary art. In recent years, the Arts Center actively curated diverse exhibitions and arts education programs—from introducing emerging and international artists to presenting creative achievements from within the university—earning wide recognition both on and off campus. By continually deepening the connection between art, technology, and the humanities, the Arts Center aimed to cultivate art within the campus and bring meaningful aesthetic experiences to a broader public.
