Students from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Yuan Ze University delivered an outstanding performance in the 2025 Engineering Paper Competition organized by the Student Chapter of the Chinese Institute of Engineers.
Under the guidance of Professor Yi-Huai Hsu, the student teams earned both the Top Excellence Award and an Honorable Mention in the Computer Engineering category, showcasing the department’s strength in academic research and innovative applications.
The award-winning papers included "A Deep Reinforcement Learning-Based NOMA Resource Allocation Mechanism for Metaverse Wireless Communications," co-authored by Pin-Hsuan Su and Yu-Yun Cheng, which received the Top Excellence Award. The other paper, titled "A Deep Reinforcement Learning-Based Time Scheduling Mechanism for Integrated Sensing and Communication-Assisted 6G Vehicular Networks," authored by Li-Yun Cheng, earned an Honorable Mention.
According to Professor Yi-Huai Hsu, the paper that won the Top Excellence Award focused on optimizing resource allocation in wireless networks for the metaverse. By successfully integrating deep reinforcement learning techniques, the research proposed an effective strategy that enhanced resource utilization in metaverse wireless communications. The findings provided valuable insights for future applications of 6G network technologies in the metaverse.
The paper that received an Honorable Mention applied deep reinforcement learning to optimize time resource allocation for integrated communication and sensing in 6G vehicular networks. The team’s approach significantly improved both communication and sensing performance within vehicular networks, offering important implications for the development of autonomous vehicle applications in future 6G environments.
All three award-winning students expressed that receiving these honors was not only a recognition of their research efforts but also a major motivation to continue pursuing academic inquiry. They expressed deep gratitude to Professor Yi-Huai Hsu for his dedicated mentorship and generous support, which enabled them to grow, explore, and ultimately achieve excellent results through continuous experimentation and overcoming challenges.
