Yuan Ze University (YZU) held an inauguration ceremony for its Chinese Language Center, attended by President Ching-Jung Liao, Director Chia-Ling Hou of the Taoyuan City Government Department of Youth Affairs, as well as several elementary, junior high, and high school principals.
The event marked a significant milestone in YZU’s efforts to promote Chinese language education and international exchange, officially opening the newly renovated teaching area, which was upgraded with an investment of over NT$10 million.
In his speech, President Ching-Jung Liao stated that the establishment of the Chinese Language Center represented not only a new milestone for YZU in language education but also an important platform for fostering international collaboration. He expressed hope that the center would attract more outstanding international students to Taiwan to study Chinese, aligning with global language learning trends and supporting the national policy of promoting Chinese language education.
Director Chia-Ling Hou emphasized that the opening of the Chinese Language Center further enhanced Taoyuan’s visibility in international language education. She highlighted the city’s friendly and supportive learning environment for foreign students and noted that collaboration among government, academia, and industry would help international students improve their Chinese proficiency, thereby strengthening their academic and career advantages.
Director Yu-Lan Huang of the Chinese Language Center noted that the center had actively expanded international cooperation, having already built strong partnerships with Adamas University in India and Fatima University in the Philippines, with whom it co-organized summer Chinese language programs for teachers and students. The center was also in discussions with Lviv Polytechnic National University, one of the oldest technical universities in Eastern Europe, intending to broaden opportunities for learning Chinese through global cultural engagement.
During the ceremony, YZU presented a certificate of appreciation to Alumni Association President Kun-Nan Wei for his generous donation of several state-of-the-art 86-inch interactive touch screens, which significantly enhanced teaching quality and campus development. In his remarks, President Kun-Nan Wei praised YZU for its resilience and professionalism in advancing Chinese language education, and commended the University for providing an excellent learning environment and facilities that ensured a high-quality educational experience.
Director Yu-Lan Huang added that the Chinese Language Center upheld the spirit of “Education Together, Light for the Future.” The center continued to promote teaching innovation and high-quality services, inspiring learners to master fluent Chinese while immersing themselves in the depth and beauty of Chinese culture. She expressed her hope that every learner would carry with them a sense of transformation and inspiration, gaining confidence and brilliance to soar across the global Chinese-speaking world.
