Yuan Ze University held the “2025 Student Governance Gala Night and Student Club Awards and Inauguration Ceremony” on the evening of June 17. President Ching-Jung Liao, along with faculty members, gathered with student governance organizations and student club leaders to witness the passing down of the spirit of student governance and the achievements in student club development.
In addition to the handover ceremony of presidents of student governance organizations and student club leaders, the event also recognized outstanding youth in higher education, held a flag presentation ceremony for the international volunteer team, and received awards presented by student clubs. The occasion brought together members of the Yuan Ze community to share a moment of honor. In his remarks, President Ching-Jung Liao stated that the handover of the Student Association and student clubs was a meaningful and distinctive tradition at Yuan Ze University.
He expressed gratitude to the outgoing leaders and club heads for their long-term dedication and contributions. He encouraged the new teams to carry forward their passion and continue fostering the growth of student clubs. He pointed out that in the AI era, acquiring knowledge was no longer the sole value of universities; instead, soft skills such as interpersonal interaction, leadership, communication, coordination, and teamwork had become increasingly important. Student clubs served as a crucial platform for cultivating these abilities. He expressed his hope that Yuan Ze students would, in addition to their academic learning, develop key competencies for the future through their club experiences.
Yu-Cheng Lin, the event’s chief coordinator and President of the Student Association, stated that the event centered on the themes of “inheritance, honor, and vision.” It symbolized not only the transition of responsibilities within student governance organizations and student clubs, but also affirmed students’ efforts and contributions in student governance, club management, and social service through public recognition and the sharing of achievements. He noted that the Student Association would continue to serve as an important bridge between students and the university, working together with various student organizations and club partners to create a more cohesive and influential campus culture.
This year, Yuan Ze University achieved outstanding results in student governance and club development. The Student Association participated in the National University Student Association Achievement Exhibition and received three major awards: the “Annual Feature Award,” the “Excellence Award,” and the “Model Award.” It was also selected as a “National Model School for Student Governance,” an honor awarded to only two universities nationwide. In addition, student clubs participated in the National University Student Club Evaluation and Observation Event and also achieved excellent results.
The CPA Club received the First Prize in the Academic Category, the Department of Chinese Linguistics and Literature Student Association received the First Prize in the Autonomous and Comprehensive Category, and the International Bachelor Program in Social Sciences (IBSC) Student Association under the College of Humanities and Social Sciences received the “Best Annual Feature Activity Award.” All participating clubs received awards, fully demonstrating Yuan Ze students’ excellence in student governance, organizational management, activity innovation, and social engagement. These honors belonged not only to the award-winning teams, but also reflected the collective achievements of faculty and students across the university.
Yi-Chun Liu, Dean of Student Affairs, Office of Student Affairs, expressed expectations that the newly appointed leaders would build upon the efforts of their predecessors, leading the continued growth of student governance and student club development with broader vision and proactive action. Together, they would create a friendly, diverse, and vibrant campus environment.
