Yuan Ze University’s Department of Computer Science and Engineering celebrated another remarkable achievement. Master’s student Yu-Lun Wang received an Honorable Mention in the 2024 Master’s Thesis Award presented by the Information and Computing Machinery Association (IICM), for his thesis titled "A Service Function Chain Deployment Mechanism Based on Deep Reinforcement Learning Considering Energy Efficiency and User Mobility in Integrated Space-Air-Ground Networks for 6G".This recognition showcased the strong capabilities of students from private universities in Information technology.
The IICM established the Best Thesis Awards for master’s and doctoral students to encourage research in information-related fields and to honor outstanding academic achievements. Among this year’s awardees, Wang was the only master’s student from a private university, a testament to his solid expertise and also to the outstanding mentorship provided by his advisor, Professor Yi-Huai Hsu.
Wang expressed that the honor served as a great encouragement and recognition of his research efforts. He extended special thanks to Professor Hsu for his continuous guidance and support, which enabled him to grow and push his limits throughout the research process.
Professor Hsu also praised Wang for his strong academic passion and perseverance, which helped him stand out among numerous national competitors. He encouraged current students to follow Wang’s example by maintaining focus and enthusiasm, boldly tackling cutting-edge topics, and continuously striving for excellence.
Wang’s award-winning thesis was based on the architecture of 6G networks and employed deep reinforcement learning techniques to propose an innovative service function chain deployment mechanism that balanced energy efficiency and user mobility. The work received high praise from the judges and demonstrated Yuan Ze University’s solid strength and innovation in the field of emerging technology research.
