Yuan Ze University held the IMCT & AICNCB 2025 international seminar, focusing on zero-carbon technology and bio-circular economy.

Yuan Ze University held the "2025 Taiwan Thin Film International Conference and International Symposium on Artificial Intelligence-driven Zero-Carbon Technology and Bio-circular Economy (IMCT & AICNCB 2025)" from May 15 to 16, 2025, attracting scholars, experts and graduate students from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, the United States, Japan, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia and other countries to participate in the event, with as many as 200 participants.

The main themes of the conference focus on thin film technology, net zero carbon emissions, artificial intelligence applications and bio-circular economy, aiming to promote cross-disciplinary and cross-border academic exchanges and cooperation, and work together towards a sustainable future.

The seminar was co-organized by the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science of Yuan Ze University and the Taiwan Thin Film Society, and invited many heavyweight scholars from home and abroad to give speeches. The activities include keynote speeches, academic forums, oral reports, student poster competitions, etc., covering a wide range of topics from basic research to industrial applications, fully demonstrating the school's research capabilities and international connectivity in green technology and sustainable innovation.

In terms of the keynote speech, Professor Zhong Taisheng, Honorary Professor of National Taiwan University of Science and Technology and Yushan Scholar, was specially invited to give an in-depth introduction to his team's innovative applications in polymer nanocomposite films. His technology has great potential and foresight in the development of clean energy and achieving carbon neutrality. Professor Linga Praveen from the National University of Singapore shared her team’s breakthrough in hydrate technology, which provides a low-energy, high-stability way to store carbon dioxide for a long time, contributing to the practical application and promotion of carbon sequestration (CCS) technology. In addition, Professor Li Duzhong of City University of Hong Kong also explained how to use artificial intelligence technology to integrate biowaste management and resource recycling to create an efficient and sustainable bio-circular economy model, providing innovative solutions for the industry in the process of transformation.

The conference also held an English oral report competition and an English poster competition for students. Graduate students from domestic and foreign universities participated in the presentations, with topics covering green energy, thin film technology, biomaterials, microalgae applications and other fields. Through English presentations and professional interactions, students’ international communication and research expression skills are enhanced, demonstrating the potential and creativity of the new generation of scientific research talents.

The conference chairman, Dean Sun Yiming of the College of Engineering at Yuan Ze University, said that this conference demonstrated Yuan Ze’s concrete achievements in promoting cross-domain integration and technological innovation in the field of engineering. In the future, Yuan Ze College of Engineering will actively guide teachers and students to engage in research topics with global influence, further expanding academic visibility and substantive contributions.

Professor Lan Qiwei from the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science expressed special thanks to the speakers and participants from home and abroad for jointly stimulating rich academic exchanges during the two-day event. We look forward to continuing to connect international resources and industry-academia forces in the future to jointly create more possibilities for the development of a low-carbon, sustainable and smart circular society.

Professor Xu Zezhi, Vice President of Yuan Ze University, said that this conference not only enhanced the international visibility of Yuan Ze University, but also provided a valuable platform for in-depth interaction between teachers and students and international experts and scholars, strengthened the foundation of research cooperation, and broadened students' international vision. In the future, Yuan Ze will continue to hold high-quality academic activities, strengthen cross-border cooperation and practical links, and inject more energy into Taiwan's development in sustainable technology, artificial intelligence, and circular economy.
