Yuan Ze 2025 Graduation Ceremony Celebrated with Honors; Zhen Ding Technology Chairman Shen Qingfang Awarded Honorary Chair Professor

Yuan Ze University held its 2025 graduation ceremony on the evening of May 24 at 6:30 PM in front of the Five Hall Plaza on campus.

This year, approximately 2,400 undergraduate and graduate students graduated. During the ceremony, the university presented the honorary title of “Honorary Chair Professor” to Shen Qingfang, Chairman of Zhen Ding Technology Holding Limited, in recognition of his long-term support of Yuan Ze University, active promotion of industry-academia collaboration, and provision of scholarships to nurture talent.

Since 2021, Yuan Ze University and Zhen Ding Technology Holding Limited had jointly established the “Big Data Joint R&D Center,” focusing on the field of smart manufacturing and pioneering new models of industry-academia cooperation. Over the past five years, the group has invested NT$30 million in supporting research projects and offered multiple scholarships and grants to cultivate industry-needed talents, fully demonstrating the company’s commitment and responsibility toward education. In honor of Shen Qingfang’s outstanding academic achievements and profound contributions to the university’s development, Yuan Ze University appointed him as an Honorary Chair Professor at the graduation ceremony.

Shen Qingfang, as Chairman of Zhen Ding Technology Holding Limited, had led the company with excellent leadership and visionary management, securing its position as the world’s largest PCB enterprise for eight consecutive years and setting an industry benchmark. During his speech, Shen shared his rich life experiences and insights, encouraging graduates to cherish their health, pursue lifelong learning, and courageously face challenges in their careers to cultivate resilience. He emphasized that integrity and self-discipline formed the foundation of character, urging everyone to collaborate as a team, build positive relationships, and maintain gratitude. He also encouraged graduates to stay attentive to industry trends and future directions, reminding them to cherish time and live in the present. Shen stressed that only those who love their work, hold long-term goals, and are not swayed by short-term gains could steadily advance toward success.

Yuan Ze University President Liao Qingrong spoke at the ceremony, highlighting that graduates stood at a new starting point in life. In an era of AI and rapid change, only “high self-discipline” could enable them to stand out. He outlined three key practices: first, managing time wisely by valuing every moment and steadily progressing toward dreams; second, emotional resilience to quickly recover from setbacks and maintain a positive mindset; and third, a commitment to continuous learning, seeing graduation not as an endpoint but as the start of actively pursuing new knowledge and self-improvement. President Liao encouraged graduates to move forward with discipline amid uncertainty, create meaningful lives, and hoped they would give back to society and their alma mater, becoming a light that illuminates the world.

The foreign student graduation ceremony had been held earlier that day at You Xiang Hall, gathering 181 graduates from over 30 countries to celebrate this important milestone. The event attracted multiple foreign diplomatic representatives, including those from the Embassies of Eswatini and Saint Lucia, the Vietnam Economic and Cultural Office, and the Thailand Trade and Economic Office, reflecting Yuan Ze’s international recognition.

Among the graduates was a Japanese electrical engineering student, Sento Tasaki, who was set to join TSMC in Kumamoto as an equipment engineer this September, beginning her career in technology. Tasaki admitted that AI and robotics once seemed distant to her, but her experience at Yuan Ze University completely changed her perspective. “Yuan Ze made me believe I could do it,” she shared. Besides her major courses, she had opportunities to take satellite technology courses jointly offered by professors from National Chiao Tung University, National Tsing Hua University, and National Central University, as well as medical AI courses taught by professors from Asia Eastern Memorial Hospital. These cross-university and interdisciplinary resources greatly broadened her horizons and practical skills.

Additionally, Yuan Ze University’s Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program welcomed its first doctoral graduates this year. Dr. Zheng Ruming, former International Lions Club District 300G2 Director (2013–2014), and Dr. Liao Yifeng, Nursing Department Supervisor at Taoyuan Hospital of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, both completed their doctoral studies while managing demanding high-level positions, demonstrating their dedication to knowledge and social responsibility.

The theme of this year’s graduation ceremony was “Beyond / Be Young,” symbolizing that graduation was not just an ending but the beginning of a new chapter in life. Chen Yichen, a graduate from the Department of Applied Foreign Languages and the current president of the graduating class association, delivered a bilingual speech, showcasing Yuan Ze students’ excellent language skills and global vision.

The ceremony concluded with a lively rap song titled “Far Away,” created by the graduates themselves, adding youthful energy to the event. A spectacular fireworks display then lit up the night sky, symbolizing the graduates’ upcoming journeys as they embarked on their bright futures.
