Yuan Ze University Broke Ground on New Taipei Branch, Setting a New Benchmark for Smart Healthcare and Sustainable Education

On January 30, Yuan Ze University held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of its New Taipei Branch at the planned site in Linkou, officially marking its entry into the field of smart healthcare and ushering in a new milestone in the University’s institutional development.

With an investment exceeding NT$2.1 billion from the Far Eastern Group, the site was planned to become a major interdisciplinary talent cultivation hub integrating medical and nursing education with smart technologies.

New Taipei City Mayor Hou You-yi, Far Eastern Group CEO Alex Wang, Board Director Hsu Hsu-ping, Board Director Hsu Kuo-an, and other core members of the Far Eastern Group leadership team attended the ceremony, together with Yuan Ze University President Ching-Jong Liao, vice presidents, and senior administrators, witnessing the birth of a new landmark for smart medical and nursing education in northern Taiwan.

Mayor Hou You-yi stated that the city government had continued to promote the effective use of public land and the integration of university and healthcare system resources. The establishment of Yuan Ze University’s New Taipei Branch and its College of Medicine and Nursing in Linkou responded directly to the healthcare and professional talent needs of an aging society, while simultaneously enhancing New Taipei City’s higher education capacity and public service quality.

President Ching-Jong Liao noted that the New Taipei Branch would serve as a key base for the University’s College of Medicine and Nursing. In addition to providing space for the continued expansion of medicine- and health-related departments, the campus was planned to leverage Yuan Ze University’s strong foundations in information engineering and digital technologies to advance AI-assisted diagnosis, telemedicine, and biomedical data analytics. Through deeper interdisciplinary integration of medical and nursing education with smart technologies, the University aimed to cultivate forward-looking talents in smart healthcare.

Guided by the principle of “innovation and sustainability,” Yuan Ze University positioned the New Taipei Branch as a “university in a park.” Approximately 3,000 square feet of green space was preserved, along with a circular pedestrian walkway open to the public. The campus was also planned to connect with the nearby Linkou Civil Sports Center to create a health-oriented living corridor. Facilities such as a day care center and a “Health Story Museum” were reserved in the campus plan to provide daytime care and health promotion services for older adults, fulfilling the University’s commitment to University Social Responsibility (USR). In response to local concerns regarding traffic, the University also planned a pedestrian–vehicle separation design, demonstrating its dedication to harmonious coexistence with the surrounding community.

Yuan Ze University emphasized that the groundbreaking of the New Taipei Branch symbolized not only the expansion of its institutional footprint but also a concrete response to Taiwan’s transition into a super-aged society and the shortage of medical and nursing professionals. With full support from the Far Eastern Group and access to the medical center–level clinical resources of Far Eastern Memorial Hospital, Yuan Ze University was set to integrate medical and nursing education with smart technology research and development, taking practical action to strengthen national healthcare capacity and establish a new paradigm of smart medical and nursing education that balanced technological excellence with humanistic care.
