From Sake Tasting to Decision-Making: Yuan Ze EMBA Cultural Exchange Event Connected Classroom and Life

The Executive Master of Business Administration Program, College of Management at Yuan Ze University, recently held a “Sake Culture Exchange Gathering” at the Glass House on the first floor of Building 6. The event was initiated by industry instructor Jen-Shan Kao, who taught the course “Intelligent Enterprise Management,” and was jointly organized with the EMBA Fellowship Association Lohas Club.

More than 100 students, faculty members, and alumni participated enthusiastically. Using the sake culture as a medium, the event integrated course concepts with real-life scenarios and demonstrated the Yuan Ze EMBA program’s emphasis on learning beyond the classroom and diversified co-learning experiences.

During the event, instructor Jen-Shan Kao appeared in traditional sake brewer attire and provided an accessible introduction to sake ingredients, brewing processes, and flavor identification. He guided participants to extend their tasting experience into reflections on perception, judgment, and communication skills. Sashimi and other delicacies were served alongside the tasting, making the learning experience closer to real-world and lifestyle contexts. Students and alumni also voluntarily brought a variety of dishes to share, fostering cross-cohort interaction and turning the dining table into a space for dialogue and shared learning.

Student Ching-Shang Chiang, who was enrolled in the course, shared that through the instructor’s explanation and demonstration, he discovered the rich layers and cultural stories behind sake and felt deeply that learning in the Yuan Ze EMBA program was not limited to the classroom but also present in these surprising experiential moments.

The event was hosted by the EMBA Fellowship Association Lohas Club. Club president Hui-Chuan Lee said that organizing a first-time event of more than 100 participants was stressful, but seeing the strong turnout and lively interaction among students and alumni made all the effort worthwhile. Alumni representative Chin-Kan Lin noted that gathering with alumni from different cohorts and building connections through shared learning created a particularly valuable atmosphere.

Min-Ping Huang, Dean of the College of Management, also attended and joined the activities, demonstrating the college’s strong commitment to integrating learning into everyday life and fostering a co-learning alumni culture. She stated that the Executive Master of Business Administration Program, College of Management, was taught jointly by PhD-level full-time faculty and industry experts, combining theoretical frameworks with practical industry cases, and emphasizing cross-disciplinary perspectives and scenario-based learning. The curriculum covered diverse areas, including AI and intelligent applications, finance and sustainability (ESG), workplace competencies, and soft skills, helping participants strengthen decision-making abilities and leadership vision in rapidly changing environments. She also noted that the program pioneered a “lifetime course warranty” system, allowing alumni to return and audit courses at different career stages, thereby building long-term competitiveness and a sustainable learning support system.

Admissions for Yuan Ze EMBA Cohort 115 were underway, with online applications open until February 23, 2026. The admission process was based on document review with no written exam, and interviews were scheduled for March 8, 2026. Applicants with more than three years of work experience, including business executives and entrepreneurs, were eligible to apply.
