The 2025 Taoyuan Youth Design Exhibition and International Design Forum, organized by the Taoyuan City Government’s Department of Youth Affairs and co-executed by Yuan Ze University’s Department of Art and Design and Department of Information Communication, was grandly held at the Taoyuan Convention and Exhibition Center from November 1 to 7.
This year’s curatorial theme, “Genesis Singularity: From Leonardo da Vinci to Autonomous AI,” brought together 103 creative design works from teachers and students across 11 schools in Taoyuan, showcasing the innovative design energy of young creators who combined humanistic thinking with technological creativity.
The exhibition was organized around five main thematic sections: Mechanism: AI Computational Power, Language: AI Design Intelligence, Empathy: Design for Restoration, Culture: Collaborative Craftsmanship, and Future: Perceptive Cities. More than 80 outstanding works were displayed, inviting visitors to embark on a cultural and technological journey spanning five centuries—from the Renaissance to the cities of the future—through dialogues that merged AI technology with cross-disciplinary creativity.
At the press conference on October 9, a highlight event titled “AI Works Showcase” was unveiled in advance, igniting excitement for the upcoming exhibition. The featured video, produced by Chih-Lin Lo, a student from Yuan Ze University’s Department of Art and Design, was based on the concept of an “AI Simulation Show.” It guided audiences through time and space—from Leonardo da Vinci’s era of creative inspiration to the sustainable city visions of 2050—using AI-generated imagery and sound to illustrate how design responds to the evolution of society, culture, and technology, revealing the infinite possibilities of co-creation between design and artificial intelligence.
The exhibition also featured a VR project created under the guidance of Professor Chia-Hui Lo from the Department of Art and Design. Sophomore students Shih-Yuan Sung and Shih-Ya Sung collaborated on an immersive virtual reality game inspired by the Zhaiming Temple in Daxi, Taoyuan. The work blended the temple’s cultural heritage and Buddhist philosophy with modern digital technology. Through VR headsets, players could enter a digitally modeled version of the temple, taking on the role of a young monk on a spiritual journey toward enlightenment. The gameplay integrated board-game mechanics, allowing players to observe and interpret religious imagery in detail while deepening their cultural understanding and experience.
According to the organizers, this exhibition not only represented a convergence of creative achievements by Taoyuan’s youth but also served as a key platform for international design exchange. The International Design Forum brought together leading designers and artists from Malaysia, Japan, France, New Zealand, and Iran, who shared cutting-edge global design concepts and fostered meaningful cross-cultural dialogue at the Taoyuan Convention and Exhibition Center.
