Yuan Ze University Hosted a USR Forum Showcasing the University’s Social Responsibility Achievements by Connecting Local and Global Perspectives

Yuan Ze University hosted the Ministry of Education’s 2026 University Social Responsibility (USR) SIG Inter-University Exchange Forum under the theme “Co-Creation Across the Globe × Collaborative Learning for Leadership × Achieving Shared Prosperity.” The forum brought together USR project teams from universities nationwide. Through the sharing of achievements, exchange of experiences, and interdisciplinary dialogue, the event further strengthened universities’ social impact in connecting local engagement with global perspectives, while exploring new directions and models for the sustainable development of USR initiatives.

Chiu-Ling Lu, Vice President of Yuan Ze University, stated in her opening remarks that universities not only bore the mission of cultivating talent, but also should actively respond to societal needs. Through USR initiatives, universities connected local engagement with global vision, fostering interdisciplinary talent equipped with professional expertise, social responsibility, and international competence. Hsun-Chih Lee, Senior Executive Officer of the Department of Youth Affairs, Taoyuan City Government, was invited to attend the forum and recognized the achievements of universities in collaborating with local governments to promote youth empowerment, social innovation, and public participation, demonstrating the positive impact of industry–government–academia collaboration.

The forum began with an achievement presentation by Yuan Ze University’s USR Global Cultural Initiative project team. Yu-Lan Huang, Project Director, shared how the project used language and culture as a medium to integrate international exchange with local practice. Through activities such as university students engaging with primary and secondary schools, international students participating in community service, and cross-cultural educational programs, the project focused on USR practices from a global perspective. It aimed to transcend boundaries of geography, culture, and ethnicity, promote cross-cultural understanding and co-learning, and create an inclusive and diverse learning environment. The project embodied the concept of collaborative learning for leadership while cultivating talent with global mobility and social engagement capabilities.

Following this, Chih-Neng Hsu, Dean of the College of Health Sciences at Kaohsiung Medical University, introduced the project “Sustainability Beyond a Single Summer: The Namaxia and International Rural Sustainability Development Project,” sharing achievements in long-term rural health promotion and international collaboration. Jung-Wei Bo, Professor at Ming Chi University of Technology, presented “Co-op Design: From Sanxia’s Community Cultural Wisdom to International Capacity Development,” demonstrating how co-design integrated local cultural heritage with international talent cultivation.

In the afternoon session, An-Jen Yang, Professor in the Master’s Program of Social Enterprise and Social Welfare at Providence University, presented “A Journey of Love and Courage: A Project for the Co-Prosperity of New Immigrants in the Coastal Region,” sharing practical achievements in promoting social integration and community co-prosperity for new immigrants. Shu-Ling Wu, Professor in the Department of Tourism, Leisure and Hospitality Management at National Chi Nan University, introduced the “Shui-Sha-Lian Regional Industry Sustainability Project: Local Revitalization × Learning from Japan × Connecting Thailand,” showcasing an integrated model of local revitalization, international exchange, and industrial sustainability. Yu-Chi Tseng, Professor and Director of the General Education Section at Chang Gung University of Science and Technology, presented the “New Horizons of Diversity: The Chiayi Migrant Support and Integration Project,” demonstrating significant achievements in multicultural inclusion, migrant support, and educational innovation.
