On June 12, Yuan Ze University partnered with the Taoyuan City Government Youth Affairs Bureau to launch the 2025 International Volunteer Program.
As a key partner, Yuan Ze University committed to deepening its collaboration with the bureau by organizing two volunteer teams—the Northern Thailand Team and the Malaysia Team—to lead students on overseas service projects, showcasing the vitality and influence of youth in international contexts.
At the press conference, the formation of the “Taoyuan Youth International Volunteer Corps” was officially announced. Yuan Ze University, as one of the first participating institutions, leveraged its academic and educational strengths to promote meaningful and impactful international volunteer work. Yu-Chih Liu, Dean of the Office of Student Affairs, stated that through the program, students not only responded to local needs but also engaged in valuable out-of-classroom learning by practicing cross-cultural communication, enhancing global understanding, and fostering personal growth.
The newly launched “Taoyuan Youth International Volunteer Corps” welcomed applicants aged 18 to 45 who were registered residents, students, or workers in Taoyuan City, thereby moving beyond the traditional framework of school- or organization-led programs. Selected individuals would carry out volunteer work in Thailand and Malaysia during the summer and receive a NT$30,000 stipend from the Youth Affairs Bureau as support.
This year, Yuan Ze University drew upon its long-standing international volunteer experience to actively participate in the bureau’s integrated plan. In addition to student teams, faculty members also served as mentors, guiding students in course planning, cultural adaptation strategies, and communication approaches with service recipients, enhancing both service quality and educational value.
Chia-Ling Hou, Director of the Youth Affairs Bureau, emphasized that the establishment of the “Taoyuan Youth International Volunteer Corps” marked a significant milestone in enabling Taoyuan youth to engage globally. She expressed the city government’s gratitude for the collaboration with institutions like Yuan Ze University and hoped that the platform would empower more young people to transform their passion into action and shine on the international stage.
In this program, Yuan Ze students applied their diverse skills in fields such as information education, language instruction, cultural exchange, sustainability topics, and visual documentation, responding to local needs through teamwork and professional knowledge.
Through this partnership, Yuan Ze University once again demonstrated the crucial role of higher education in promoting youth engagement in public affairs and international connections. The university also expressed its ongoing commitment to strengthening collaborations with government agencies and global communities, to cultivate young talents who possess both global perspectives and practical abilities, expanding the impact of Taiwanese youth on the world stage.
