n response to the trends of digital transformation and cross-disciplinary teaching innovation, the College of Management at Yuan Ze University launched the “Yuan Dream Lab,” an innovation hub centered around metaverse experiences.
This newly established space integrates photography, podcast recording, live-streaming production, and multifunctional classrooms to provide faculty and students with a creative and practical environment that stimulates imagination and action.
Dean Min-Ping Huang of the College of Management stated that the Yuan Dream Lab was not only a new physical space, but also an innovation platform centered on problem-solving. She emphasized that today’s societal challenges require a balanced integration of interdisciplinary expertise, digital technology application, and humanistic care. The lab aimed to promote integration and cross-domain dialogue, driving curriculum innovation and practical applications while providing students with more opportunities for real-world engagement.
The space was designed by Chia-Hui Lo, a faculty member from the Department of Art and Design. She shared that it had been her childhood dream to design a classroom, and having the opportunity to complete this design herself made her feel both thrilled and honored. The Yuan Dream Lab featured a 360-degree circular projection system and a multi-screen display setup to create an immersive teaching experience. It also housed a dedicated media control room equipped for podcast recording, photography, and live streaming—meeting diverse multimedia production needs. Notably, Chia-Hui Lo personally modified a Nintendo Switch joystick to create a custom multi-screen control console, which became a fun and distinctive highlight of the space. The name “Yuan Dream” symbolized “realizing dreams at Yuan Ze.”
In recent years, the College of Management had adopted a student-centered approach, implementing a flexible interdisciplinary system inspired by international business school models. Students were encouraged to choose academic paths aligned with their interests to become π-shaped talents and future leaders equipped for the AI era. Dean Min-Ping Huang noted that three major interdisciplinary programs had already been launched: “Low-Carbon Sustainable Development,” focusing on ESG and hands-on practice; “Digital Transformation,” emphasizing AI and business applications; and “Innovation and Entrepreneurship,” encouraging students to turn creative ideas into reality. All programs were rooted in cross-domain integration, and more systematic collaborations with other colleges on campus were planned.
She further revealed that in the second half of the year, the College of Management would launch an additional innovation space called the “Startup Garage,” which would combine a co-working area with a creative incubation mechanism, welcoming student startups to join. “Our vision is to make the whole city a laboratory for students,” she stressed.
The College of Management had long been committed to internationalization and bilingual education. Since 2011, it had been accredited by the AACSB, placing it among the world’s top business schools, and successfully passed its third accreditation review in 2022. In 2024, the college was honored by Taiwan’s Ministry of Education as a national EMI benchmark college—the only private university in northern Taiwan to receive this distinction. The college had established comprehensive Chinese-English bilingual programs at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels, fully promoting English-taught courses to build an immersive international learning environment and lead the development of bilingual business education in Taiwan.
The opening of the Yuan Dream Lab marked a significant step forward in the College of Management’s journey toward cross-disciplinary integration and educational innovation, unlocking greater potential for students to imagine, create, and realize their dreams.
